Design Story

The centre holds a moonlit castle on a rocky rise, its towers catching pale light while a still lake mirrors it below. Everything sits in a near-black field, so the composition works through contrast rather than colour — cool silver highlights above, warm antique gold below. The border does the structural work: scrolling filigree, corner shields with eagle and lion, facing griffins, and a compass rose anchoring the lower edge. A band of small glyph-like marks finishes the outer frame, giving the rectangle a clean, deliberate stop.

Room & Styling

On a rug, this scale reads correctly from standing height — the castle stays legible across the open floor while the ornamented border defines the edge and keeps the shape crisp against wood. The dark ground absorbs a room instead of competing with it, so seating and side tables can sit on the perimeter without breaking the picture.
